I got started in the home industry in the mid-1990’s, working for a flooring company and doing installation jobs. After graduating from UGA, and after spending some time as an assistant builder for a large production builder, I made the move into custom homes. In 2003, we decided to go out on our own and founded Manning Homes. What I have observed while working in this industry is a trend toward cost-saving measures that often save the builder money, but can lead to a poorly built home and higher costs for the homeowner down the road. Higher energy costs, higher maintenance costs and the chance that you’ll be replacing and repairing major systems in your home sooner than you should.
We saw an opportunity with green building and have enjoyed the great response to our homes. We sleep well at night knowing our homes are built well and will stand up over time. In fact, we constructed our Winnona Park home while expecting our oldest child. It’s located among neighbors who have purchased other homes we’ve built – so we know if they have a problem, they don’t have far to walk to find us.
We’ve learned many lessons and gained valuable experience along the way. From navigating through the Cities of Decatur and Atlanta housing ordinances and processes, to rebuilding on lots with minimal disturbance to neighbors and the community, to finding the most reliable, quality sub-contractors to work with, we are happy to pass along our experience to the families who work with us.
Again, we thank you for considering Manning Homes.
